The Wineries of The

Central Okanagan

Planes, trains and automobiles:
If you were arriving here early in the last century, the Kettle Valley Railway would have been your best bet. (In fact, the old steam train still runs in the summer months for sightseeing and train robbers!) These days most visitors who fly here, land in Kelowna. But if you're comfy traveling on a smaller plane, Penticton is another option. Either way, you're within a short drive of the many wineries in this region.

What to wear:
Beautiful summers and moderate winters are the hallmarks of this area. It's so temperate that even the snowbirds (not to mention the quail!) think twice before leaving. In the warm months, pack your pashmina. In the cooler months, pack two pashminas!

Best bets for your cellar:
This is Canada's fruit basket and that includes the fruits of the vine! Its unique micro-climates produce some fantastical varietals (helllooooo pinot noir) and even a few scrumptious fruit wines. Our advice: Try them all!
